Sentosa Spooktacular 2013
This Halloween, Sentosa wanted to raise their bar of horror after previous years of successful horrifying Spooktacular. They collaborates with renowned movie production studio GMM Tai Hub Co. Ltd. (GTH), based on 5 Thai horror films (Coming Soon, Shutter, Body, Dorm, Pee Mak), take thrill-seekers through 5 haunted trails with interactive components, professional grisly props, grotesquely hideous ghosts and spine shivering moments.
If you are a fan of Thai horror films, you will not forget the vengeful ex-girlfriend Natre from Shutter, resentful chopped-up victim Dararai from Body, spiteful starlet Chaba from Coming Soon, faithful wife Nak from Pee Mak and the bitterly furious child spirit Wichien from Dorm. These iconic ghosts lurking within Sentosa Spooktacular will bring fear to you till your knee shivers.

Haunted Trail 1: Dorm
No one noticed when one fateful summer, Wichien, a boarding school loner, fell down a well and met his doom. Desolated, he resolved to make his absence felt. Now, with kids going missing and drowning incidents commonplace, it’s time to face the fear head-on.
Mission:
Navigate the corridors with only a modest torchlight, and recite a chant and help Wichien reincarnate.
Haunted Trail 2: Body
Chon, a medical student who has performed countless autopsies, was increasingly perturbed by nightmares and filled with a corpse he recently studied; it belonged to Dararai, who was gruesomely butchered. It seems the vengeful soul has placed a deadly curse on the faculty – including you.
Mission:
Lift the curse by assembling Dararai’s grisly body parts (gloves not provided).

Haunted Trail 3: Shutter
When photographer Tun noticed mysterious white shadows in his shots, he knew something was amiss. It became clear that it was Natre, his ex-girlfriend who was violated by his best friends and driven to commit suicide. She seeks revenge and it doesn’t look pretty.
Mission:
Find and burn the photographs of their foul deed without getting exposed. Make it snappy.
Haunted Trail 4: Pee Mak
Mak invited his four best friends to visit his hometown and introduced them to his beautiful wife, Nak and their new-born child. However, they soon heard rumours that Nak had died during childbirth. To save Nak from his ghostly wife, the ugly truth must be uncovered.
Mission:
Follow them into the unholy Temple of Dawn and perform a dance ritual to lay Nak’s soul to rest.

Haunted Trail 5: Coming Soon
In the last scene of a production, actress Chaba suffocated to death due to a glitch, while the crew stood transfixed by what they thought was a breathtaking execution. She’s back and no one’s off the hook from her lethal hex.
Mission:
Break the spell with a seal from Chaba, to appease her, without which, your only fate is death.

Review
I like how they design the pass holder. Using merlion and cannon in the design of the amulet.
My personal most favourite trail is Dorm. One part of the Dorm trail is a maze of dark corridors. The angry child spirit Wichien will lead you through this dark maze, however, he will constantly scare you in the process. The person walking in front will have the best experience. The next trail i like is Shutter. At one part of the Shutter trail, you will be ask to stop there and wait. Disturbing lights flashing, you see figure moving towards you, unknowingly the next moment the figure is so near that your rooted feet is too weak to run. That is really thrilling! Body is a long trail. You will see lots of gruesome scenes with body parts. For Coming Soon trail, you will keep seeing Chaba, almost everywhere. Pee Mak is a very short trail, so short that when it ended, i thought i walked the wrong way. Besides the entertaining dance, Pee Mak trail is my least favourite trail.
Compare to last year’s Spooktacular, i had better experience this year, probably because this year’s had a well designed theme and concept. I am able to associate the “feel” with the familiarity of each movie. The mission concept is a nice idea to make the trail interactive and fits the storyline of the movie. With professional movie production studio involved, the props created are as realistic as what you see in the movie. You get to see elaborate landscape designs, lifelike and larger-than-life figures that never before seen in reality!
Compare to Halloween Horror Nights 3, HHN3 is like a hollywood blockbuster. HHN3’s haunted houses have lots of special effects to enhance your horror experience but for Sentosa Spooktacular 2013, a peek at the disturbing props and scenes will send chills up your spine. I’ve seen one girl cried halfway through the Coming Soon trail, one girl don’t dare to continue the Body trail and a group of boys stuck in the Shutter trail because they don’t dare to proceed through the darkness.
If you want to experience pure Thai horror, Sentosa Spooktacular 2013 is probably the only chance you can ever experience it at professional level.
